Default Re: How to manually make a new customer order?

We also need this module. I have tried Create order module but it does not work.

We have trade customers who always get special prices and at the moment, we have to login as customer, create order and then edit order to adjust the prices.

The issue is, when an order is created, customer gets an email with order details and emails us "" Hang on!! this is not the price we agreed on.

Also this is so lenghty method. These days adding an order manually is essential requirement for every online business and i would request the zencart team on behalf of all zen lovers to make this option available in next version.

After doing some hammering and testing I too concluded that Create Orders is "not quite there" yet.. I posted the following that should work well for implementing a manual ordering process by making creative uses of some really cool Zen Cart modules.

With regards to your current process being lengthy, I'm not sure how much shorter it would be even if the next version of Zen Cart included a manual ordering process. The steps that a customer takes to create an order in the store are the EXACT SAME steps you too would have to take as a shopowner to create a manual order.
    • Select Products & Product Options
    • Select Shipping Method
    • Select Payment Method
    • Apply Discounts/Coupons etc
    • Finalize Order
None of this would be shortcut in any kind of manual order process built into Zen Cart. You still have to apply all these basic steps to the order process. (which is one of many of the BASIC issues with the Create Order module -- it tries to SKIP some of these steps hence the issues it creates)

Perhaps using one of the many pricing and/or discount mods would eliminate this issue. You could then configure the module to apply the customer's special pricingin the cart when you are creating the manual order (thereby elminating the need to edit the order later, and avoiding the customer confusion when they receive their order confirmation as it should reflect the correct pricing)

Another option is to use the Zen Cart coupons features and create a one-time use coupon for your manual ordes so that when the order is processed the correct pricing is included. Though I think one of the discount pricing mods is probably the BETTER way to do this. Coupons would only reflect the discount on the order total where as the pricing discount mods will reflect the discounted per unit price. (which is what I suspect your customers REALLY want to see)

Thank you for your detailed answer but it does not fit our needs.

We do not have set prices for each customer. Each item has different prices to every customer so we can not apply Group discount.

I don't think adding this feature into zencart will be any problem.

All we want to do is, select the customer from Dropdown menu, Click on create order, start to add items, add the delivery chargers manually or edit the existing one and then complete the order.

So far edit order has been doing excellent job but as i said, we have to login as customer and checkout and then edit the prices.

We have great zencart gurus so i request them to create either a working module or make this built in feature.

    Thanks

And I wasn't talking about the group pricing modules.. There are discount modules that allows you to set special discount levels for individual customers..

It's not about being difficult or about having great Zen Cart gurus.. It's about sustainability.. As DrByte pointed out there are inherent sustainability issues with bringing over huge chunks of store-side code into the back-end of the application.. (frankly this is a HUGE reason why the current Create Orders module is not longer working)

Another option you could consider if you REALLY want this functionality is to pay for a developer to develop it for you.. Unless what you are asking for is for someone to develop and share this as a free module.. Free module development is a volunteer effort, and to my knowledge with the exception of the Create Order module, there hasn't been much activity in the area of order CREATION modules since the launch of Zen Cart.. Based on DrByte's comments and what's known of the v2.0 roadmap, there's been no indication that this feature will be forthcoming in any future version of Zen Cart either..

Anyway.. my purpose was to share other options for those interested in possible solutions.. If it's not for you cool.. Other's reading this thread may find what I posted useful.. different strokes and all..

    1. In the admin area change the customers email address to one of your own.
    2. Reset customers password. It comes to you.
    3. Login as the customer. Place the order
    4. If the've already sent payment manually (cash or cheque) send the customer a gift certificate for the amount of the order. Use the gift certificate to pay for order.
    6. Use admin area to chage customers email back to their own.
    7. Email the customer their new pasword.

I KNOW is a pain and its not elegant but... hey it works!

    Cheers
    Thanks Heaps
