Cant get the admin login page to load!

Hi Guys, ive been trying to get to grips with Zen Cart, looks great so i hope i can get it to work! my host is supanames

my site is www.simdesign.org
shop: www.simdesign.org/zencart/index.php

i first tryed 3 upload/install's with problems involving the files not uploading properly, some not atall and i narrowed this down to my main computer's firewall etc, so i uploaded and installed from my 2nd computer which has less protection and it seems to have worked perfectly, except one problem!

i cant get my admin log-in page to load, it just times out,

i checked if the "/admin/.htaccess" would work if re-names, i noticed it seemed to have vanished, so i re-named on my computer to htaccess_bak as suggested and re-uploaded and this didnt help.

unfortunatley i have trouble understanding the rest of the help article as im a bit new to it all, so i have e-mailed supanames with a description of the problem and a link to that article to see what they say.

thought i would post the problem here also as it may be something simple i just dont know!

why cant i delete some of the directorys of old instalations? ive checked the permissions.

also, whats the direct URL for the admin login?

Anyone any ideas on my initial query, not had much help from supanames so far.

You'll have to ask your hosting company about that.

Do you have ENABLE_SSL, ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN and ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG set to 'true' in /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php?

If so, please change to 'false'.

Ok i checked that file, i found the 2 values "ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN and ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG" and set them to false.

i couldnt find the value "ENABLE_SSL" alone, just the 2 above.

i tryed going to the admin login from the zertcart index without luck.

then i tryed going using the direct link /admin/index.php

i got the login screen, which is progress, but it just times out if i try to log in.

the strange thing is on my first attempt which i talked about to install everything, i couldnt get the shop to work atall because like i said alot of files didnt upload correctly, but i managed to get the admin to work. i deleted (or the ones i couldnt, re-named and moved) that installation and re-did it. could thats be part of the problem?

aha! it took a while to load but ive managed to get it atleast once now!

ENABLE_SSL is in /includes/configure.php, i.e. the store includes folder, not the admin/includes folder.

right got that sorted too, thanks guys for the help,

im still having trouble with the admin login page loading, it sometimes does and ive managed to actually get into admin once last night, but usually it either doesnt load atall or loads but i dont manage to log in.

If so, then it's possible you might have problems accessing active rate-quote services for shipping modules or interactive payment processing for payment gateways, and so on. You might consider a hosting environment that lets you talk to external services reliably. Maybe their server is located someplace that makes it hard for it to connect to commonly-accessed resources.
