If you're using git, I've set up a GitHub repository: git clone git://github.com/magiccoder/Zen-Cart-Multiple_Addresses_Mod.git.

And if you're not using git, you can get the source here: http://magiccoder.com/zen-mod.zip

I've attempted to keep track of all my changes, so any of the Zen-Cart developers can follow along. Pretty much anywhere I've made a change I've added the comment "//Multiple Addresses Mod". So searching for that string will give you most, if not all, of the modified files.

My basic approach was to build a $_SESSION variable with the multiple address info, and then split up the order for each address to calculate the different shipping and tax rates. There is probably a better way to do this, but it appears to work for the situation my client was in, and a different situation might require a different solution. I'm hoping it works for someone else out there as well.

Please note that if you install this mod, you won't be able to upgrade to newer versions of Zen-Cart, such as 1.5, without doing some serious code re-writing. This might pose a security problem as vulnerabilities are discovered in the 1.3.9h code-base. Just a heads up.

And one other thing worth noting is that some of the payment gateways, such as PayPal, only accept a single shipping address with their API, so if you're using PayPal for your shipping information, PayPal won't see the multiple addresses. I considered contacting PayPal about this, but that just seemed like getting way more involved than was strictly necessary. Maybe someone out there who has a connection to PayPal would be interested in discussing this with them? As it sits, PayPal (and AuthorizeNet, etc.) will only see the default shipping address, and not the multiple addresses. I don't think this should be a problem, but you never know.

I would be more than happy to help anyone out there install this mod on their site, just PM me and we can work out the details. You can still check it out at http://magiccoder.com/zen-mod/ to see if it will suffice for your needs.

Thanks again to everyone for testing it out and for your feedback!

This is really fantastic. I did a string search and it returned 51 file results... does that sound about right?

Do you have any plans to package this up and release it in the add-ons section with documentation?

I am working with a coder on obtaining one. Anyone else interested in this?

What features do you need, got any sites with this feature that you would like this system to be like?

What features do you need, i am trying to think of the easiest to use system with no confusion to potential customers.

The coder is just waiting on my feature list to give me a quote on a price. I will be using it on version 1.5

To be honest, the other contribution listed in this thread does the job pretty well, at least in my brief testing of it on my 1.39h dev site. Basically, as long as the module allows the shopper to first choose "ship all products to single address" or "ship to multiple addresses", and then allows them to use a drop-down menu or something similar to select from their existing saved addresses when they are shipping to multiple addresses, then I think we would be in good shape.

One thing that would be REALLY nice is if the module could "play nice" with COWOA or Fast and Easy Check Out. To do so, I suppose the shopper would need to be able to either choose from their saved shipping addresses or to simply type the addresses to which the individual products should be sent.

Lastly, I wonder if a module like this would introduce issues with shipping modules. For instance, if you order products A, B, and C and you ship A and B to Address 1 and C to Address 2, there would need to be logic that "combines" A and B into a single order for shipment so that the shipping module does not price them out as separate shipments.

I think they are very good versions of what we need, and do not plan on having an exact models and layouts as them s oit will not be a copy cat, but would like something very similar.

Very easy for the customers to use without being confused.

The ability to ship to multiple addresses was not immediately apparent on this website.

    This one was ok.

This one is pretty much perfect. It's nice how you can add a quantity of "2" of a single product and then split those two up to ship to two separate addresses. I don't think you can do that on rockdale... I think you have to add two separate instances of the product to your cart on their site to be able to ship to two addresses.

Yes that last one is the best im my opinion, but there also a HUGE company, so we cant make an exact copy of it as they may come after us for stealing their idea.

I will show that to my programmer and see what they can do. Would you be willing to go in on the cost of this? Im not sure what its going to cost yet, but would be nice if we had a few people going in on the cost.

Also i am having him make it as an add on not directly coded to my website.

Quite possibly. It will depend on how much it costs and whether any of my clients are looking to add that type of functionality. I am mainly looking into this as a solution for possible future projects, but I could see myself including it on "all" websites going forward as a value-added feature.
