    Default Install Problem

I've bought the book, and still can't get past the install portion...

I've uploaded zen cart to my site using FileZilla, but now can't find it,

    I've tried.... www.mydomain.com/zencart
    ... www.mydomain.com/zencart/admin

when I put in my domain name /store
    I get this...

    Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.

    any suggestions??

Did you successfully install it and now can not find it or FTP'd the files up and can't find them??

Make sure you are using the correct url to locate it. If you did not upload your store to a subdirectory called "zencart" then you obviously won't find it there.

Replace "zencart" with your directory and you should find the files.

The "Sorry / database error" (that is, if you have the correct directory as indicated above) is a server issue that you would need to check out with your host.

Did you FTP them to the web root?

My web host is 1&1.com. On my website I created a database in mySQL, then on the same website I created a FTP account, the directory only has the name... /. (not a real name) If I go to edit that same directory, I have a drop down box with some of the following...

    /.
    /admin
    /wsb4636284801
    /wsb4636284801/colorschemes
    /wsb4636284801/colorschemes/colorscheme1
    ……….
    /wsb4636284801/store/moved/zen-cart-v1.3.7-admin-patch
    …….. etc…

So I can see that zencart is in FTP directory, would this be my web root??

    zen-cart-v1.3.7-admin-patch
The "Patch" is not a full distribution and only a small set of files meant to update a current install.

You need to get the full set of files and can find this link if you select "Home" at th top of this page

If can be moved to a linux server you will be happier at least for Zen Cart

I used FileZila to upload this... zen-cart-v1.3.6-full-fileset-10272006 to my site in the FTD directory.
I still don't know how I install zencart on my site?

Thank you Cobra for your help.... Please stick with me and continue to help :)

I suppose you mean the "FTP" directory??

This needs to be in the web accessible directory - on Linuz this would be public_html or www - Determine your web dir and move all the files there...

Might as well also get Zen Cart 1.3.7 and start off with the most recent.
