Increasing the prices across the board...

Is there a way that I can increase the prices of all products in my zencart installation across the board by a certain percentage?

For example, if I have 300 products, instead of going in and changing the prices of each product, I'd like to increase the price of every product by 5%.

That's not a bad solution - but isn't there a solution from the admin panel? I mean, what if I had a whole heckuvalot of products (say thousands), and my overhead caused me to have to increase all my pricing by 5% or 10% to cover this new overhead? Would I really have to go in and either manually (one by one) increase the pricing, or write a SQL statement to increase the pricing from the database side?

It just seems like there must be a way to accomplish this in a simple way... but maybe I'm wrong...?

There's no way I know of to do this from the admin. Writing a mySQL statement is probably the fastest way to do it, but unless you know what you're doing, it could be tricky. Make certain you have a current backup of your database before attempting anything like this.

Yikes! Seriously, no doubt. I'm not a fan of throwing SQL directly at databases. Maybe this would be a good idea for a plugin...?

Changing the value of a dollar (or whatever your base currency is) from Localization /Currency to a value other than 1.00000000 does change all the prices. I'm not sure what other problems this will cause but shipping does come to mind. Just kinda thinking out loud here so be sure to watch out for the salt.

I wouldn't do that. I'd be afraid it would cause problems with other currencies or other parts of Zen Cart.

I could write the mySQL statement, but I'm a bit afraid to go there.
