Internet explorer 7 does not show error box

if I try to login at the login page, and i deliberatley use a wrong login name and password, IE7 does not show the text for the error, instead all one can see is the Triangle error.gif. However if you hightlight or drag your mouse over this area then the red background appears with the text. It works perfectly however in Firefox, can anyone help, I have tried various changes to background colour in the stylesheet etc, nothing makes adifference to IE7, thanks

Well, yes its the user login error that is being displayed and not being visible to the user in IE, only in FireFox. Basically the error is there it is white though and not visible. I have tried changing the colour of the font etc, but the error is simply not visible in IE7 try it yourself.

I'm getting this error too. It certainly seems to be CSS related.

I just tried this on your site and I see the login error correctly (red background/white text) in IE7 and Firefox

It's ok on the live site. The problem shows up on the development one (which goes live tonight) currently at develop.swiftbooks.co.uk

It only seems to be on the login screen and, occasionally, the normal product (jigsaws category) but the book products seem fine - some tidying up to do but that's all - so it's not a show-stopper.

I've based my template on the Comstock one so I'll take a look at the support thread for that to see if there are any hints.
