We could find the right place to change the background color of all the fields in that form if you post a link; but I'm not sure there is a way to identify the "required" fields for CSS as is. That may require adding new tags in the code based on status.

I am referring to the default create_account form. In this form the required input fields have a background-color of rgb(255,255,160).
If I want to make some field as not required, still the field background is yellow, i want to be able to change that.

    Thanks

In my test copy of a fresh install (v1.3.7) the fields are all white, required or not. There is nothing like a yellow used on that page. Unless that has changed in v1.3.7.1, or you are using a template which has modified this page, I can't help you. Post a link to your site so we can see the behavior you report.
There is nothing in the tags or other identifiers to distinguish between required and non-required fields for CSS.

You have a highly modified template, but it still does not have yellow backgrounds in the fields. This is not just a monitor quirk - there is no yellow color used on that page, according to the Web Developer - View Color Information. Maybe it is a feature of your computer's operating system or browser that does this by default?

Try turning off your Google toolbar, that is probably causing the required fields to show as yellow.
