Help please 'This transaction is invalid' on paypal express checkout

Hello i am in the process of setting up my store and paypal will be my only means of accepting payment so it is crucial that i get this to work.

I tried a test purchase and when i click the express checkout button this message appears

This transaction is invalid. Please return to the recipient's website to complete your transaction using their regular checkout flow.

Ive been reading through the forum now for the past 4 hours trying to find a solution to my problem but i cant find one.

Im running the latest version of zen cart so i shouldn't need any of the patches (please correct me if im wrong on this)

in zen cart it says i have curl enabled on my server but before i looked at this i emailed my hosting company about curl support and they gave me this link http://uk2.php.net/manual/en/ref.curl.php
which i dont have a clue about

any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated

[CURL_ERRORS] => (1) libcurl was built with SSL disabled, https: not supported!

Your hosting company needs to update their PHP configuration, and recompile it with CURL *and* SSL enabled.
