order received in paypal but not in zc

I received a PayPal payment notification of a new order but did not get the notification from ZC. I logged in to PayPal and the payment was received fine. Then I logged in to ZC but the order isn't there. The customer is there but his order isn't.

How do I figure out what he ordered??

I am having the same problem. I got payment from paypal but their is no order in ZC.

This is the second time this has happened to me and it happened once to one of my store clients. Since it happened the first time I have received other orders.

I am running Version 1.3.7

If you are getting payments in PayPal but not seeing the order in Zen Cart, then you have a communications problem between PayPal's server and yours ... which is preventing PayPal from telling your store that the order has been paid-for.

I completed all those steps when I setup the store a couple years ago. Nothing changed on the site so I don't know why it would suddenly stop working--on just one order. Since I posted the original message, my site has processed three orders. All of them worked correctly.

So now my question is, what can I do to push through that order that didn't work?? I have the zenid number from the PayPal transaction detail page.

You can pull the raw product-id number and quantity info from the database using the "paypal sessions viewer" addon in the downloads area.

I just started having the same problem

So, am I to understand that that actual order information is contained in the PayPal sessions information? I can't find any information on the order in the other tables, such as orders...

I'll try the 'PayPal Sessions Viewer' to see if this gets me the order information as indicated. Hopefully that will get me what is needed to not have to contact the customer to find out what they ordered...

Then the next step, what could have changed in the communications channel between PayPal and my server? What do I need to be asking my host about, as I'm sure I've changed nothing on the site itself.

That only happens "suddenly" when you turn on the debug-to-email option.

This is too frustrating I seem to be having this same issue all of a sudden!

Previous orders and paypal payments have come through fine then suddenly this past week I get 2 paypal payments for orders and ZC admin shows the customers created but no orders???

The fix: fix the communication between PayPal's server and your server.

How?
a) make sure your hosting company didn't change anything on your server that's blocking communications from PayPal
b) make sure PayPal is still sending the notifications to your server

If PayPal's system isn't sending properly, log a ticket in their support system for "Website Payments Standard" (aka PayPal IPN).
