Default Admin Flakiness Since Moving Up One Level

    Howdy, All!

Last Friday I moved ZenCart up to the top level of my website, so visitors land directly in ZenCart upon arrival. Everything seems to be running smoothly, but...

Since doing so, I have not been able to upload product images from the Admin, nor update pages using Tools/Define Pages Editor, using the standard methods afforded by the Admin.

Both of these features worked properly previous to moving the whole group up one level. I have looked around the forum and FAQ, but can not find anything this specific.

I have been working around these issues by manually adding/replacing files using FTP, but would like to have this functionality back.

Any ideas where I should start looking for fixes to these troublesome gremlins?

    Danke,
    chrx

Probably you didn't modify your admin/includes/configure.php correctly.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

Sounds like a permission problem, which can happen when moving dir/files around.

    Check the following:

    includes/languages/english/html_includes/THEME/
    - your "define_" files must have 777 permission to be able to Edit from within Admin section
    - make sure to change back to 644 when finished

Directory for images must also have 777 permissions to enable uploading through Admin section. And make sure to change back to 755 when finished.
The learning is in the doing.

The issue of updating the images from the Admin was resolved by changing the permissions on the images directory and all its subdirectories to 777.

    Update # 2

The issue with updating from the Define Pages Editor was resolved by not using a custom subdirectory within /includes/languages/english/html_includes/

I had originally set-up a custom subdirectory, as most of us do in /includes/templates/

That is when the problem started, not when I moved the cart up to the top level of the Site.

    Cheers,
    chrx
