Default delays in emails from the system

I just setup a zen cart installation and everything seems to be working great, except emails to the customer for account creation or order confirmation take five hours or more to be sent...

I'm setup to use sendmail and my host is bluehost which uses linux servers.

Any thoughts about what I could check or do to address this? I would think that these emails should go out pretty much immediately.

    Thanks for any help.

That is a server problem, have you contacted their technical support?
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Before I read your whole post, I was going to say that it sounds like GoDaddy. Our mail notifications are taking 15 - 20 minutes to arrive after the order has been placed.

Does the [admin/tools/send mail] function go that slow too?
Do you get your pop mail from the same server or does bluehost use separate servers for pop?
I would get them to pier at their access logs and see if there is a mail routing problem.

    Hope this helps
