why won't it calculate right shipping weight/rates?

Hi,

We have setup zencart so that it charge the shipping base on the item weight. but when any customer goes to checkout after he added some items eg : 2 or more items to there cart, zencart calculates the weight of the first item but not the weight from the other items .

What i mean is lets say i got 3 products :
1) 1lbs = 5.00
2) 2lbs = 7.00
3) 3lbs = 8.00

Zencart will charge the shipping on the first product added so let say number 1) 1lbs = 5.00

but will not charge the shipping for the other two products that was added to the cart.

It will calculate the prices correctly add all products correctly but it only calculates the weight of the first product for the shipping this is an issue as per we have to pay for the weight of the other 2 products from are pockets when we ship.

Is there a way to have it calculate all the weights of every products the customer adds to his cart? or is there something i should enable or disable. ( could be my mistake ).
