I'm trying to create a sale that will discount item "Y" when item "X"+"Y" are in the cart. e.g:
Motherboard: $100
CPU: $100
monitor+CPU= 150.
The modules dont seem to support this. any ideas?

This is what Better Together does. Check the downloads area.

Better Together 1.6 is fine with Zen Cart 1.3.5 as long as it was a clean install or a proper upgrade. One person reported a problem but she had not upgraded correctly from 1.3.0.

attributes with stocks mod will still work?
OT modules are pretty self contained, so AFAIK yes.

I have installed it, have the module activated, and have edited the ot_better_together.php setup(). but i cannot get any affect. i tried it using cat_to_cat and couldn't get it to work (and yes, i minded the difference between parent&top level category ID's. I used the parent ID's). When cat2cat didn't work, I specified two individual products using their product ID's, and tested by adding them both to a cart. no result whatsoever.
where can I even begin to troubleshoot what the issue could be? there aren't any php errors on the shopping cart screen. I haven't added the code to tpl_product_info_display.php yet, could THAT point me in the right direction?
FYI. I am using a dual pricing mod for wholesale pricing... and I use the stocks by attributes mods.
Thank you for your time.
You know this is an order total module and you have to go to the second page of checkout to see the discount, right?

well... i do now. thank you. I have it up and running now.
just some notes:
1.something that tripped me up was the path for includes/templates/CUSTOM/templates/tpl_better_together_marketing.php.
It might be worth documenting that "custom" should be changed to the propper name of your template. I know its obvious to the seasoned, but not to the noobs or those in a rush. (i qualify as both)
2. you might want to note is that you can adjust size, color, and otherwise with your template's css by adding
to your CSS. This will help make the marketing announcement more visible (i put mine in huge red letters!)Code:#betterTogetherDiscountPolicy{ font-weight: bold; }
3. The readme says:
maybe this would be a good place to say "open up a shopping cart, and go to the checkout page". Just one more way your Readme can help me overcome my slownessThe easiest way to do this
is to open a shopping cart in another window, and just start adding
discounts...
4. It would be helpful to add a notification to the end of the marketing line. i.e. "discount taken at checkout, it is not visible in the cart". Personally, I would prefer it to be a separate string that i could put on a second line, and could control through css separately from the rest of the line.
I might have to hit you up for the rest of the code to include the discount while viewing the cart. Thanks again for your help and your expertly commented code.
Some of these things are in the extended help on my home page.

Take a look at this for more marketing ideas.
(1) is an excellent point, and in fact, it's in the READMEs for the newer things I've done; I just didn't add it to my earlier contributions. It's a very easy common mistake for new people.
Thanks,
Scott
