Hi
Never played with linux before and don't really have the skills to manage a linux server with text based commands!!
Looking to install xamp but since I have a spare PC is it possible to install a Linux desktop version and install Zencart?
This is only for me to work on locally before uploading - not for a live site!

If you never used any Linux before, I'd recommend Ubuntu since it's quite easy for beginners (and one of the most popular right now).
There is a Linux version of xampp, which is called LAMPP.I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

I installed Ubuntu server version but it didn't seem to have a GUI so I knocked it on the head. Will get a desktop version if the following questions errs towards Linux. I have 4 XP machines at present.
Side question: For a development environment is there much difference between using a windows system with XAMPP or a Linux system with LAMPP?alfo

Linux Mint is one of the easiest distros for those new to Linux.
