The /admin/modules.php script accesses the filesystem to enumerate the files in the /includes/modules/MODULE_TYPE folder(s).
If you have odd files in there, or a *lot* of files in there, I'd anticipate potential problems. But the default of 5-10 files shouldn't pose any problems.

what files do you have in the /includes/modules/payment, /includes/modules/order_total, /includes/modules/shipping folders?

Only the defaults that come out iof the install.....

can you post the contents of your admin/includes/configure.php (less any passwords etc)

Seems like it is not looking in the right directory to enumerate the module files,

You asked earlier about your PHP and CURL versions.
I don't see anything wrong with your CURL version, but I would suggest that you upgrade to one of the newer (5.2.x) versions of PHP, since the industry is moving that direction quickly ... and even Zen Cart will require 5.2 in order for v1.4 to run when it's released.

But that should be causing your current problem.

I have the newer PHP d loaded....I figured since it green lighted me, I could use that one.....but I am prepared to upgrade if you think we need to....

I looked at the dirs they seem right....but I HAVE to be missing something..

Nothing in the logs.....it blips the cpu for second thats it.........seems like it never gets there....

if you feel up to editing a file and putting in some debugging code. You could try this,

you need to edit admin/modules.php

now when u got to the modules section of admin, for payment/shipping etc you should see extra information echoed to the browser.

That might give some hint as to what the problem is.

No joy when editing the modules.php file.


I took a nap, and I think I may have the answer. My upstream provider in the Data center where I am collocated uses SNORT and a perimeter defense. I have had issues with it before being too tight for some code ....especially when it involves SSL.


So my theory is that because I chose not to enable SSL at the build up the activity with curl looks like something SNORT should block as it is outside of SSL.


Make any sense at all???


Anyway I have fired off a ticket to my buddies at the data center and we will see.

I will be sure to post back as to the outcome.

While a CURL problem might affect the loading of some payment/shipping methods, It should not affect the loading of modules generally.

Does you problem occur for every type of module.
ie shipping, payment and order totals.

However I am not that familiar with SNORT so cannot say whether it is having some other effect.

Just to bring closure to this ticket. It was in fact some odd rule in SNORT regarding "modules.php".

Since we use the screw it down tight until someone complains mentality towards security, we had all of the SNORT rules ON.

Anyway after determining that the modules.php the rule was designed for was obviously NOT the oscommerce/zen cart flavor..... we opened it for up for use and presto everything works great now.
