Default Whats the best way to backup

I have done a lot of updating on my site and I'm wondering what the best way to back all of this up is. I use filezilla to upload stuff and was thinking of just downloading it all the same way. Or is there some other more effective not as time consuming way of doing this.

If you're doing all your editing locally and then FTPing the changes to your site, you've automatically created a "backup" for yourself. If not, you can certainly FTP the folders/files down to your local drive. Do yourself a favor and backup your database as well. After that, copy the entire thing (site and db) to a CD for safekeeping.

Take a peek at this tutorial as well.
