Categories with 0 products showing

How come I have categories with no products in them showing if I have the "Category with 0 product status" under Configuration --> Layout Settings set to 0?

I thought that if this was set that any category or subcatory that has 0 products would be hidden? Did I misunderstand this.

I am using Zen 1.3.7

The 0 Cat mask is on the count not the Category itself ...

Categories with 0 Products Status
Show Category Count for 0 Products?
0= off
1= on

This could still be customized further but it would take some customization ...

Ahhh... So there is no setting then in the Admin that you can set to hide categories that have 0 products automatically?

You could just set the categories_status to OFF so it doesn't show ... it would be a whole lot more efficient than to test for it ...

I am not understanding what does this do exactly Show Category Count for 0 Products, I to though it was to hide categories that do not have any product in it. I have automatic feed from my distributors. I have a main category called New Arrivals however, not every category gets new products, so the ones that don't i would like them to be hidden until a new item has been uploaded to them, but not off because i still want the product and category to show when there are products in it.
