Special characters in Product Name

I want to display the Registered Symbol in the Product Name and the Description on my site.

When I input

ampersand pound 174 semi

and save the product, then reopen it displays as ®

Question: If I save it again will it save the code or the symbol ®
If I edit this item in the future will I have to change it back to the code again?
