How can I apply the same option and value to multiple products?

I have several products for which I'd like to include shipping in the price. Last week I found a thread which explained how to do this:

I followed the instructions in the thread for one product and, lo, the free shipping came up when the single product was the only thing in the cart. Great stuff.

Today I tried to apply the "shipping included" attribute to a second product; I should be able to do this, right?? And I marked it "price by attribute", and made the shipping radio button "default", and set "include in base price when priced by attribute" to yes, and - the free shipping doesn't show in the estimator OR the shopping cart. I get my standard zone table shipping, unless only the original product is in the cart.

I'm also confused by the fact that on my original product, the button "apply discounts used by product special/sale" is checked "yes" which I don't think I did. It wasn't in the thread I was following. (But then, neither was to set the product to "price by attributes".)

Can someone expand on how I apply the same option and value to multiple products?? Do I have to create a separate attribute with the same option value for every product??

Oops, I figured this one out myself - it was user error. I had forgotten to check "always use free shipping" on the new product! Once I did that it worked fine...
