Default Can files in Cache folder be deleted?

Hey all... I need a little help here.
Over time our backups (FTP) have slowly grown and I really didn't give it much thought until recently when I decided it was time to build a new server (with RAID 1) and upgrade to the latest version of Zen Cart. Anyway, after building the server OS, I started the FTP process and the estimated time was 20+ hours... By thy the way the server is sitting in my home on the same subnet as my PC that the files are backed up to.
I stopped the process and started copying folders, one at a time to see WHY the estimated time was so long. It turns out that the Cache folder (created when Zen Cart is installed) has grown to 19+GB and takes 12-15 hours to FTP over to the new server. All other files (about 500 MB total) took about 10 minutes.

Anyway, I checked our Zen Cart: Building and Online Store the Zen Way for the purpose of this folder and didn't find my answer.. So, I'm looking to the rest of the Zen Cart community to answer my question.

    Please help.

    Thanks.

    John

    Thanks...

What is actually stored in the folder? Is this supposed to be temporary search results when a customer is browsing, or what?

Is there an automated way to delete these, or is it best to simply go in an manually (via FTP) delete them?

Many things are stored there including but not limited to database cache and such, which is supposed to make your site faster since it reduces the database server load.
You can delete files there every once in a while.
There is no script to do it automatically right now (I think), but writing one for it wouldnt take more than a few minutes.
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me
