column layout grid for products

Hi all! Is there a way to have the product listings display in a columnar grid (only my categories and sub-categories are in column layout)?

If not, is there a way to at least put a space between the products? They're pretty much sitting on top of each other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked already. Thanks!
