aligning icons/buttons in header and footer

I am trying to get the newsletter subscribe and search box in the header to fit on the same line and also switch sides, and cannot make it work no matter what I do.

Similarly, I have several small icons in the footer and cannot get them to lign up nicely. I want the copyright/name lign to center on its own line and then on the next line to have all the little icons in one line and evenly spaced, with the whole thing centered on the page.

I have tried for weeks and explored css and html and php options, and played around with the placement as much as I can and am out of ideas.

Someone may come up with a better suggestion, but I've done it by wrapping it in a table. 2 cells side by side.

Is that for the header or footer? I assume header, as you mention two cells.

Now I need to figure out how to make a table, and how to implement it here.

More suggestions are greatly appreciated...

OK... Hold on.. I just read something about the use of:
[FONT=Courier New]form {display: inline;}[/FONT]

[FONT=Courier New]Try putting that in your stylesheet[/FONT]

Okay, if I put this in the cssstylesheet.css (that is the right file?) then how do I get that to tie into the page?
