showing all categories(top & sub) in sidebox all the time

Hi, there
I've read a lot of threads in this forum regarding this problem but didn't seem to get the solution.

How can I show all categories, ie. top categories with all sub categories expanded all the time?
Instead of expand the sub categories when click on the parent category.

I found a mod called "expand category list" but that seems to expand all the way to products.

I'm not very familiar with php but I know java and c++ so I can get my hands dirty if hard code is needed, but it will be nice if someone could point out a direction and get me started.

Hi, I think you can do this with a mod called category dressing

in the download section

when i got it going one of my categories was called ALL jewellery products and subcats where earrings, necklaces etc

anyway after the install it was showing up like how you want, I didnt want mine like that so i changed it but im pretty sure this is what you want, hope this help

oh also make sure you read the info/readme file on changing the layout a few times and then you should be ok to change it

I've checked category dressing before too, but from its description I don't see it can do the job.
I just tried install it, no luck.

You can just use the expanded category, and dig into the code to comment out the part that retrieves the products. I believe some people actually posted solutions for that on the forum as well.
