call for price , ask for quote shopping cart

since this morning, i've read a lot of posts on forums and not found what i'm looking for...
I want to be able to include in my shopping cart, products having "call for price" status... this will allow people asking price of multiple products very easy. currently selecting a "call for price" product drives to "contact us"

I've not yet explored modules like 'dual prices' and "super orders" to vérify if it's possible to have product having a real price ( for groups allowed ) and "call for price" for others or different shopîng cart status and layouts.

i've seen that it will be easier changing the layout to hide prices on shopping cart but it's not elegant...

please help, my dream is to have a catalog where people can make shopping choose attributes options etc.. and then have a checkout meaning they send to us a ask for quote cart...
my super dream is to have my dream for groups of users and to have standard shopping cart for specific group of users...

The principle of "Asking for a Quote" differs radically from "Placing an Order", so a Quoting system has to function OUTSIDE of the shopping cart process.

It would be logical, however, (should a mod be developed for this) to base it on a "clone" of some of the aspects of the shopping cart and checkout procedure, because there are parallel functions.

Ideally, In any listing or display of product data, there should be a button that says "Add Product to Quotation Request", which then goes down its OWN branch of functionality.

And in the same way that orders are recorded and archived, quotations should be so too, so that both the customer and the shop owner can access the record.

The shop owner should then be able to "edit" the quotation request to input prices, (which may or may not be equal to their store prices).

This is then sent to the customer who can either accept, or reject the quote by line item, highlighting (against each rejected item) reasons for acceptance/rejection.

When the customer and the store owner are "mutually agreed" about the final terms of the quote, it should then be able to be processed as a formal "order", with the data then being parsed into the order process...

I agree with Glenn and Kim any customization to this degree is going to require custom development and the hiring of a programmer to do that. This isn't going to be something you're going to find on the forum unless someone wants to build and contribute this to the free plugins

My thought would be to just rename the buttons and such to say something like "Add to quote list" or such and when the quote/"order" is sent through the company can respond that way. But then the site would be deemed a quote only website. But that's all they want now anyways I guess. Any reason that wouldn't work?
