Inserting a product directly in to the database

Hi,
I'm trying to insert a product using a direct query with a program that will connect remotely to my database, I know the table where I have to insert the row to add the product but how do I insert the description? How can I get the product id of the product I just inserted so that I can insert the description after? Thanks for your help.

Unless you are willing to figure out ALL the 10 - 14 table entries that are required with a new product, you are better off using the admin.

Many before you have tried with little success.

I was able to make function correctly. The three tables you need to modify are products, products_description and products_to_categories, assuming that you already have the categories created.

There are additional tables and indexed relationships and especially if the product has attributes
