    Default Shipping option unavailable during checkout

    I have a buyer from Spain with items in his cart right now but he can't checkout because there is no shipping method showing up. It just says,

    "Shipping Method:
    This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order."


    But then there's a blank area and no shipping. It's just makes an endless loop if you click on "Continue Checkout".

    But I'm not sure what to do next. Our site's version 1.3.6.

    I am upgrading fresh to 1.3.8 soon, and developing that offline for now, but I would sure appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this immediate problem.

    If your shipping methods are all restricted to certain zones, then his address might be getting excluded by those restrictions.
    Set your shipping module to use --None-- for the zone, and then it will be available regardless of the shipping address.

    Thanks for the reply, DrByte.

    It's been a long time since I set up the shipping. I do have "Zone Rates" enabled and the calculation method based on weight.

    This has always worked before. This is the first time it's happened. We have sold to countries outside the U.S. lots of times.

    Is there some way to have it not block Spain from seeing a shipping method and let they buyer continue the checkout?

    Is Spain listed in the zones you've configured for use in your Zone Rate module?

    Yes, and I doubled checked that "ES" was the country code for Spain.

    I've done a workaround of sorts, I know it's not a perfect solution.

    In the Admin I went to Modules |Shipping and enabled the "Per Unit - perweightunit" method. Then I went and created a new Zone for Spain (and the particular region in Spain that this buyer is in) under Location/Taxes | Zones Definitions.

    Also, back in Modules |Shipping I added a handling fee which brought the shipping cost within range of what it actually is and also chose Spain where is says, "If a zone is selected, only enable this shipping method for that zone."


    When I tested it by logging into the customer's account, there was a shipping cost showing now. It said, "Best Way" so I went to Tools|Developer's Tool Kit and searched for that phrase, found it in the "perweightunit.php" file. Downloaded that file, edited it to say, "Shipping Amount" instead and uploaded it to my_custom_template folder on my site at...

    includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/my_own_template/

    Tested it using the customer's account and it worked okay. Sale went through and everybody's happy.


    I'm sure there's a better way. If you know what it is please feel free to share!

    I know this is a late reply and you may have already found your solution, but I am posting the fix here as I think it may help others.

    This issue haunted me for quite a while, and I am embarrassed to say that the fix is so easy that I can't believe I did not think of it... all credit goes to Ajeh on this one though as she posted the solution here http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...t=55869&page=2

    Basically the answer is to:
    1. Remove the Zone Shipping module
    2.Install the Zone Shipping module
    3.Re-input your country codes and rates

    (Side Note: The answer was impossible to find through the search feature on the zencart forum even after hours of trying, and it was not until I Googled it did I find the answer. I wish the search feature in the forums was better.)
