bug Download Attribute Dropping - wishlist mod?

    Version: 1.36-1.38a
    Mods: Heavy down to none
Windows NT LELU 5.0 build 2195
    PHP Version : 5.1.2
    MySQL Version: MySQL 5.0.18-nt-log

    Environment
I currently have three installed ZenCart stores running. All are download stores. YGN is a modified mall environment with over 100 vendors participating. KoboldQuarterly is a simple print/download store with some integration between ZC and PHPBB2. HinterWelt is a site with little or no custom mods.

    Bug
Far more frequent on YGN (due to volume I believe with over 2000 products active) you will have a product drop its download attribute. It still allows purchase but then I have to go in and manually attach the download file.

    Possible Causes
    1. At first I thought it might be the mods I made to YGN but then it happened on the other sites.

    2. Everything was marked Virtual Product. I have changed this today and we will see how it works out.

    3. For a while, Wishlist mod was the culprit but that has been disabled and it still persists.

    4. Some how registering "Disabled" and disassociating the attribute???

    Solution?

    Thanks,
    Bill

Are the Download Attributes marked? Or do you expect the customer to mark them?

They are marked as default. So, Zip File is marked.

Continuing drama. I updated all the products be "No" to virtual products. Now, it added a charge "Per Item (Best Way)" to an order. Is this a shipping charge? Yes, I have all the weights set to "0".

We may need to take the site down if this continues. It is very alarming. YGN does a lot of business so it only compounds if things are not going well...as in they don't go well really fast.

What products where in that order? I just tested a product in the cart and didn't get this behavior.

on the YGN site the wishlist mods works but the wishlist mod does not pass the attribute to the cart. I had to modify the code on one of the sites I used to manage so you couldn't add to cart from the wishlist. The wishlist mod is supposed to go to the product info page when a product has attributes, but in my experience this doesn't work like its supposed to.

There have been quite a few. Recently...

The wishlist is still running but I have made it so it does not add to the cart...just keeps track of the products the customer is interested in. I would love to have one that adds the product directly to the cart but Ajeh said that was not likely to work and I have not had the time to investigate it.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Edit: Note, this is not a consistant problem. It comes in waves. That is why I wonder if it is somehow attached to an "Out of Stock" warning or some such. Reproducing it is really only possible over time. It is not too annoying with a 10 product store but it is infuriating with a 2000+ product store, all with downloads.

actually the add to cart from the wishlist still works in compact view and it does drop the attributes when adding to the cart. I tested it with both of the products you noted.

I swear, that wishlist mod is more trouble than it is worth and insidious to boot. I have disabled the cart in that screen now also and will work on getting the header to behave. Grr.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, this has happened on two other installs I have done without the wishlist mod.
