Image issue

Hello all,

Unsure if this is the correct place to ask this question - if not, would Mods please place elsewhere

I have noted that when I look up the properties of my images on Zencart and other places, that I am shown the 'pathway' from the root to the image itself ie, www.zencart.uk/images/large/big_apple.jpg etc.....

Such a pathway address can then be typed into a browser and the Parent Directory of my site is then presented to the individual, providing access to all of my images and associated information.

Is this a security risk and can this pathway be blocked?

One does not even need to enter this in their browser - -

If on a win box just right click on an image and copy

It is not a security risk and any attempt to prevent can be overcome by one that has even minor abilities so don't waste your time

There should be an index.html file in your images folder. This should stop the contents of the directory being shown.

I may be wrong but I think that's the problem freshstart has. It's not that visitors can copy the image, but that visitors are able to see a directory listing of all the images in the images folder when directly accessing via URL. index.html prevents that.

Many thanks for the time spent answering my post. Yes, all images are visible when directly accessing the url. Regarding index.html...do I need to create one, or copy one from within Zencart into my images folder?

Just noted that there is a index.html in my images folder, but not within the Large, Medium, Small folders - I am assuming at this point that I should copy into each folder?

Will try it out and report back here...probably tomorrow.

OK, I have copied the index.html into my images, large & medium folders & it appears to have worked

My next issue is to look at 'hotlinking protection'.
