Search by zipcode??

Hi,

I'm planning to use ZC to open some sort of online national restaurant order system.

For example, I have and know restaurants in NY and FL. I plan on making the categories like this

New York > May Flower > Menu
New York > Wasabi > Menu
Florida > Chopsticks > menu
Florida > Rolling Wok > Menu

the "Menu" will be broken down into more detailed portion of each restaurant's menu. This is done because each restaurant sell different foods at different prices. Also, only customers at local areas can buy at the restaurant.

So, I was wondering, if I put the zip code in the Restaurant's category description, and a website visitor searches that zip code it will direct the visitor to the restaurant's menu, will that work or is there a module/addon for this?

Yes, if you put the zip code in the product description, when a user searches for a zipcode it will return all the results that match that zipcode.

You could also "modify" the "Manufacturers" Sidebox feature - rename it to Zip Code by editing the relevant DEFINES in english.php files (in admin as well as catalog), then you can have a sidebox that features a dropdown of all zipcodes.

I tried your advice and it works. However, I was wondering if I could just search a whole category.

For example, with the same setup

New York > May Flower > Menu
New York > Wasabi > Menu
Florida > Chopsticks > menu
Florida > Rolling Wok > Menu


I'd like to put zipcode "33024" in the meta tags and descriptions of "Chopsticks". So, whenever a visitor looks for 33024, the category of "Chopsticks" or whatever other restaurants(categories) with this zipcode will be shown.

Basically, I want visitors to see what's available in their area for online ordering. Then, they may choose their restaurant and start ordering. Is there any addon for this or any other way to search by category?

Anyone who has an idea of know an addon please contribute!
