How do I set the language from a non-zen-cart page?

My site is in Spanish and English. Some of my pages live outside of zen-cart (they existed before I ever added zen-cart). If the user sets the language outside of zen-cart, I want to let zen-cart know about the language change and vice versa. Since the zen session doesn't seem to be available outside of the zen pages, I don't know if this is possible or if there's a workaround? Thanks, jdl

I got it working by using the _SESSION vars and appending &language=xx to my menu items.
