Missing icons in admin after changing from Windows to Linux?

Zen Cart comes with several default .htaccess files which WILL NOT cause those symptoms.
But if you've altered those files, or added your own additional .htaccess files with their own rules, then those will need to be fixed.

So, in plain terms, this is what you need to do:
- fix whatever .htaccess files (in all subdirectories) have been altered from what the original Zen Cart supplied .htaccess files contain
- fix whatever new .htaccess files you've added

AH ok, well, I have a problem then because I haven't added or changed any of these, and yet my host provider said they've seen several "deny" rules in my .htaccess file. I'm waiting for them to reply so I know which .htaccess file is the one to fix. They said by disabling it they could fix the problem... meanwhile I'll have a look to see if I can find it myself...

Hi,
I found the problem, there is one .htaccess in the admin/images folder. I updated it with this part

 but now allow just *certain* necessary files:
<FilesMatch ".*\.(jpe?g|JPE?G|gif|GIF|png|PNG|swf|SWF)$" >
  Order Allow,Deny
  Allow from all
</FilesMatch>

and I got my icons to show up, but then I checked the original files of zen cart and realised there shouldn't be any .htaccess in this folder, so shall I simply delete it? or is the fix alright anyway? Can you confirm?

That "fix" is fine. Or deleting the file is fine too if there are no other rules in it.
You should really find out why the file was added in the first place.

Ok I guess I will just delete it since it's not supposed to be there...
