Zen Cart comes with several default .htaccess files which WILL NOT cause those symptoms.
But if you've altered those files, or added your own additional .htaccess files with their own rules, then those will need to be fixed.
So, in plain terms, this is what you need to do:
- fix whatever .htaccess files (in all subdirectories) have been altered from what the original Zen Cart supplied .htaccess files contain
- fix whatever new .htaccess files you've added
