I have come across two problems that appear to be linked:
1) DESKTOP: The desktop version responds/changes according to width of browser window.
2) MOBILE: Request Desktop Version option––available on all mobile browsers--does not work.


DESKTOP VERSION:
I have set my site width at 980px, which is in line with convention: Amazon 1000px, Facebook 1000px, Google 950px. If a user chooses to reduce their desktop browser width below 980px, I don't want the site to resize. I want a scroll to pop up at the bottom, just as it does for Amazon, Facebook, etc.

Is there anyway to kill give the desktop version (only!) a static width?

MOBILE:
If the desktop version can be made static, is there a way to then allow it to be called via mobile browser?

Hello ... anyone home?

v1.5.5a - new installation - need some help please with this template.

1. How does one get 3 columns to appear? I am only getting 2 Columns showing - /admin/product_listing/ shows 3 columns - no number of columns selection in admin/layout_settings/ (as is in Responsive All Business previous template)
2. Slide show canister size - can this be reduced - what file allows for adjustment of slide show canister size??
3. Menu bar - want to delete some menu items, e.g. Brands, About Us etc - which file allows this?

looking forward to some assistance which will be very much appreciated

Can I borrow your glasses please Frank - cleared cache, still seeing only two columns, on Desktop that is, single column on mobile - Firefox and Edge. What browser are you seeing 3 columns on?

Well it has me stumped - still seeing 2 columns regardless of browser.

So Frank do you have any advice on my other queries - slide show canister size, menu item changes in menu bar, alter text in New Customers box in Checkout?

update -
1. have tried 3 different browsers on Desktop and Tablet and still seeing only 2 columns - any ideas?
2. still cannot find where to delete/add menu items in the menu bar (slim bar) - would appreciate help in isolating this file.
