help question Size Attributes for my producst

Hello everyone! I am not sure if I understand how to input the attributes.

I sell jewelry and I need to have sizes 5 to 10 for ladies rings.

I went into the attributes and input sizes 5 to 10 in with sort code to start from 1 to ....

But now how to I select a ring that only has ring sizes 6 to 8 and use the dropdown menu for them?

I am lost when I try to attempt this plus it's not allowing it to do this step.

    Please help a noob!

Making an Option Name with 12 Option Values does not mean you have to use all 12 Option Values on every product ...

It is also recommended to number by 10s on the Sort Order for future growth ...

A handy method for this is in the Catalog ... Option Value Sorter ...

just pick your Option Name and click EDIT and enter the Sort Order for each Value and hit UPDATE ...

NOTE: on long lists when sorting you can sort in groups and hit UPDATE ... then go back to EDIT so they are more or less cleaner than the last time you saw them ...

help question Re: Size Attributes for my producst

Hi Linda thank you for your reply and help.

I must be missing a step, when I go into Catalog>Options value sort order... I can choose the sizes I made which is 6 to 10, but I have no listing of each ring I have up on my store! I am wondering how I get the product to display ring sizes 6 to 8 for the first ring?

I have been in the Attributes controller and I see the "ring" names in a box and also I see my sizes 5 to 10 in the "Adding New Attributes" under "option name" but I see only "Text [reserved for text/files only attributes] under the "option value", but I cannot seem to assign a dropdown menu that would allow a customer to pick a ring size when they order.

So when I choose I try to fill everything in and click insert, I get the warning that " nothing was updated "! Probably because I have no product chosen because it's not added somehow.

I used to know how to do this as I had a store two years ago but forgot due to lack of use.

In a nutshell: I wish to find out the steps on getting my rings to have a dropdown menu for their unique sizes.

    Ring 1 sizes 6,7,8
    Ring 2 sizes 8
    Ring 3 sizes 5 - 10 etc

So, when they choose the size it will be on the order form, so, this way I do not have to make a note that customer needs to tell me the ring size they need ....

The Option Value Sorter is to sort the DEFAULT settings for these Option Values that can be used *after* they have been added to a Product in the Attributes Control panel by hitting the UPDATE SORT ORDER ...

Otherwise, you have to do that manually per Product per Attribute ...

I need to know how you make a dropdown menu appear next to each item that I sell. Manually I guess as each do not always share a size 10 or a size 5, some just have size 6 or 7 or 8.

Do you know how to or where I may find where to make a dropdown menu.

    Thanks Ajah.

Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added - Size 6 : TEXT

This is what I get when I select my product under my category. I try to choose size 6 in the options name: " Size 6 (dropdown) ". I did not add the price:weight:order etc below!

What am I needing to do to get a dropdown value to work I wonder.

And Yes!! Voila, Ajeh comes through once again and is highly regarded as a hard worker in my books!

I really really appreciate what you have done for me Linda! I cannot believe I forgot how to do this step. Do you know if this would have been in the Zen Cart Book? Or does the book cover steps on how to do these type of things??

Anyway, I am not sure how long it takes for ones site to get popular, but when I get going financially, the Zen Cart team will see steady donations from me. Because I have found many people on here who care and help.

I just could not get the gist of overrides, thus, I am running straight from the zen cart template, sorry, i just could not somehow get the jpegs to show up with the changes.

    Enjoy life! Get Zenned!
