Going Insane--how Do i get rid of weight showing?

I now have my usps mod installed and am finding that most are choosing first class shipping. However, after packing the order, the weight goes up and in many cases over the 13oz First Class rate limit--so, I end up having to send out priority and am losing quite a bit of money.

Since the first rate amount is calculated on the weight of the items alone and not with the extra weight of shipping materials, etc I have added a percentage using configuration/shipping and creating a setting amount that will take the extra packing into consideration. Easy, right? :)

Now my problem comes in because i do not want any weights showing. Not on the individual listings (at the bottom where it shows quantity, weight, etc) or in the shopping cart itself. The reason being is that I want to have the shipping estimator available, but if I have weight showing with each listing, there is an obvious difference which my customers are questioning.

I have gone through the entire configuration list and have put a "0" in everywhere it says "Show weight" but still the weights are showing.

what am I missing???

I do not want the weights to show on the listings or the shopping cart.
I do not mind if the total weight shows on the shipping calculator as long as it is the one I added the extra weight of the shipping materials to.

Hope I am making sense here. How do i get rid of the weight in my individual listings and still keep the quantity available, etc?

In Admin/Catalog/Product Types, go to Edit Layout (on the right side) of
your product type, and set Show Weight to 0.

ok, maybe i spoke too soon! LOL

It does remove it from each listing, however, it still shows up in the shopping cart.

Total Items: 1 Weight: 0.21lbs Amount: $21.00

How can I remove the weight from there as well?? In other words, the ONLY place I want a weight to show up is in the shipping estimator....make sense?

0= off
1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount

There are 2 things that I'm looking to do, similar to this...I'm using UPSXML and have begun to edit the display info. What I would like to do is to eliminate the weight line and then completely remove the ( ) between whatever type of shipping they select so that it goes from:

UPS (1 pkg x 0.00 lbs total) (Ground)

to

UPS Ground

Now I'm sure that this requires editing a PhP file associated with UPSXML, and I've tried to get what I want by playing around with what I have not deleted, but I'm out of ideas which is the rest of the code I need to kill. I assume that everything is in this file:

/includes/modules/shipping/upsxml.php

My version hasn't been edited that much, but I did take out the delivery date estimates. please let me know what part(s) of this file I might need to delete or edit to get the desired results, thanks a lot.

is there a way to not show the weight in the shipping estimator as well? im gonna go try and remove it from everywhere else for now :) also the weight and quantity still show up in the search when you search for products. is there a way to do away with this as well?
