I said "pointless" because the message says that the contents of your current shopping cart have been combined with the contents of your old cart ... but there's nothing to combine.

I suppose you could write custom code to make it always show the message whenever a login happens.

Either way, the contents will show when they get to their shopping cart before checkout.

Well I took your advice.. If items left in, next time they log in, they will get a message with their greetings saying that there is something in their shopping cart, ending with a link to their cart..

Is there any way to ignore old carts completely?

I'd like my users to be able to log in and just have the cart they are currently working on. I'd like it to just completely forget old carts.

Yes, it's possible with custom coding. I've posted elsewhere on the forum how to do that if that's really what you truly need.
