Lost a category - upsetting template changer?

Hi,
somehow I've lost category 9. it doesn't have any product in etc, but when I made my next category it jumped from 8 to 10.
In the database i've checked :-
table categories- no 9 there
table categories_description - no 9 there
table product_to_categories - no 9 there
Can I just create the correct enteries in the above tables or is it linked to more tables?

Did you perhaps create a category... then delete it? This would account for the used incremental ID number.
