    css problem Firefox issue

It's been a while since I've used Zen and for the life of me I can't determine what has happened at this early stage of my sites development...

All I have done so far is configure a drop-down menu via the tpl_header and stylesheet.css files and have a quick play with tpl_footer. It all looks fine in IE but in Firefox the main page content shoots off to the right!

    www.prestigeringcompany.com/index.php

Something (a float or align I guess), somewhere within the CSS and/or tpl_header file has gone wrong.

    Can anybody help??...

    Thanks

What do you use to validate your HTML code?

The w3c Validator shows me you need to correct this:

Line 160, Column 25: end tag for element "a" which is not open .

    </td></tr></table></a>
Not sure it will correct the problem but definitely needs correcting.

That is temp hack code which I have now removed, but as you will see it is not linked to the issue... thanks for looking though.

Problem identified captain! My tweak of a class in the menu CSS has caused this. I am now on the case. Wahoo!

A point of interest to some, maybe?... I have now reinstated the invalid xhtml code identified by Website Rob. A few loose </a> tags are not really a concern to me, or any browser or any device.. that's just validation gone mad! The hacked link is "understood by IE6 and below to be a nested link and by non-IE browsers to be a standalone link. It is possible to make Internet Explorer's conditional comments work for other browsers. In other words we can target non IE browsers with IE conditional comments. So non-IE browsers see the closing </a> on the top level links and IE6 and below see the closing </a> on the other side of the table. This works in IE5.5, IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera, Safari(PC), Google Chrome, Netscape 9 and Mac Firefox 1.5 and Safari though not Mac IE5.x".

I'm not trying to sound clever...lol.. no chance of that. The code and explanatory info (above) is supplied by Stu Nicholls of www.cssplay.co.uk who provides quality code. Just thought I should point that out. :)
