    look for following code in your stylesheet.css

    #mainWrapper {stylesheet.css (line 181)
    background-color:#FFFFFF;
    border:1px solid #9A9A9A;
    text-align:left;
    vertical-align:top;
    width:750px;
    }
    Change width to suite your need ..

    before altering your site . it is suggested to read and create custom template and override system you can find all info in tutorial section .

    screen resolution of 1024 x 768 seems to be standard resolution this days. so you can change width of your page to 960px , leaving 20px each side.

    text-align: left;

    width:100%;

    vertical-align: top;

    I don't know where you looking at that getting this info . but location of your CSS that is effecting your page is

    /includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css

    this is what i see.
    if it was set to 100% , then your entire page would have fill the screen .
