Display Random products instead of New Products on Index

Is it possible to set it up so just a random sample of products are displayed on the home page instead of "New Products for (Month)"?

The customer I am setting up this store for doesn't want "New Products" or the month listed on the page. I could probably edit the code and get rid of that text, but I thought I might check to see if there is an easier/better way to go about this.

I just want random products from the catalogue to be shown, not new products for the month, etc.

Change the configuration Configuration > Maximum Values > New Product Listing - Limited to ... Set value to 0 (All Products)
