How to gather freeform text for an item added to cart?

Hi all,
I'm considering using Zen Cart to handle registration for a car show. We have several types/colors/sizes of shirts which I don't expect to be a problem at all. What I don't know how to do is this: When someone pays an entrance fee for a car, we need to gather make, model, year, color and a couple of other pieces of information. Is there a way to set up a product (car entrance fee) that the user can add information to at time of order?

One could add html form code to the product description and decide how this will be forwarded....email is most frequent option
Tutoring on how to capture into the order and database is beyond the forum limits but there is a commercial help area if that is needed/desired

Thanks for the suggestion. I would like to find a simpler solution, if possible. I can add HTML for code to a product description but I would like to hand this off to a non-programmer administrator who would not necessarily understand coding HTML. Can anyone else suggest a solution?

You could make several TEXT attributes that you can add to the Registration Product for the customer to complete ...

Set them as Required and that would force the completion of the data before they can add the Registration Product to the cart ...
