Updated for v1.5.4 compatibility, and code rearranged so that it doesn't need to touch any core files.
NOTE: this module's install/uninstall/cron scripts are not compatible with PHP 5.5, and will need to be rewritten to use mysqli functions if they are to work on modern versions of PHP.
