Channel Islands Postcode Autodetection

This plugin is intended only for UK Zencart users who sell to the Channel Islands. The reason for this plugin... The Channel Islands (Guernsey and Jersey) have UK postcodes which is advantageous when shipping by postcode (especially if using the Advanced Shipper module). However, the Channel Islands do not pay UK VAT which can be problematical in your setup of Zencart, as, even with Guernsey and Jersey now having their own ICAN Country Codes allowing them to be included in Zencart as countries and an appropriate no-tax zone configured, you will inevitably have some users who complete address information using the GY and JE UK postcodes, which often results in them being charged UK VAT. NB. For the purposes of delivery, the GY postcode also covers Alderney & Sark. What This Plugin Does This plugin eliminates this conflict. Any UK postcode that is entered in any address location in Zenacrt (login/create_account, address_book_process, checkout_shipping_address and checkout_payment_address) beginning with GY or JE will automatically have the country of that address changed from United Kingdom to Guernsey or Jersey as appropriate. |
