Give your customers a choice of free gifts when they spend x.xx in your store. Dangling Carrot allows you to specify which items are gifts, set a discounted, or zero price for them, and then set a threshold at which they are eligible for the gift. You can set gifts for certain thresholds of shopping cart value. If the value is over a certain amount then the gifts show. These gifts are separate products that are normally hidden (set the status to "out of stock" or inactive). Only one free gift can be present in the cart at any one time. If the cart value drops below the value for the gift (someone removes an item for example), the gift is automatically removed from the cart. The gift does not have to be free! Examples: Threshold £10 Gift : Towel worth £9.99 for just 99p Threshold £50 Gift : FREE Hamper worth £19.99 The gift from the next level up is shown when the cart value is within £20 of the gift threshold, dangling carrot style. Fixed broken functionality, replaced missing/wrong version files, little bug fixes here and there, added images to gifts sidebox. I fixed some bugs and the 1.3.7 files mixed in with 1.3.8 files. This is compatible with 1.3.8a, I am not sure if it will work with earlier versions. There are 3 directories that need to be renamed to your custom template/overrides name. They are: includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/YOUR_TEMPLATE includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR_TEMPLATE includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE If you are using the default template "classic" then rename the directories to classic. The files are all in the correct directory structure. Simply unzip, change the 3 directory names listed above and upload. !!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!! If you have modified any of the files in your cart that are in this mod then you MUST compare and merge them using a comparison tool like winmerge otherwise your previous modifications will be lost and your cart will break!!!! There is no styling in this mod but the elements all have classes and IDs so you can style them as you like in your stylesheet. Thanks to gbnet for the fix to admin/gift_add.php, it now shows the existing gifts with edit and delete buttons. As always, the most important first step with installing any mod is BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP!!!! |

The updated version of Free Gift - Dangling Carrot. Now working with Zen Cart 1.3.8 Improvements to code have reduced the number of core files overwritten. Fix to gift_add.php that was causing errors on some installs. Be sure to rename the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders with the name of your custom template.
