Seller adjust bill before buyer pays
First of all hello all, I am brand new to using Zen Cart and loving it so far, I sell electrical components of all sorts, many 1000's in stock, that being said shipping varies immensely and I would like to know if there is a way a buyer can add all that they want to the cart and before paying, let me input shipping?
Thank you
Nelson

first of all welcome!
figuring out ones processing flow can always be a bit tricky.
assuming you are using a credit card module to pay, you want to do something known as authorize and capture in separate steps. while the customer is still on the site and doing payment, you can authorize for the order amount plus an estimate of the shipping costs. after receipt of the order you can then input the shipping cost on the admin side, and then capture the exact amount of the whole order including the shipping amount.
i know most credit card payment modules allow one to do this, including paypal, authorize.net, and square...
i like the auth.net plugin i did:
https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2272
as far as entering shipping amount, you can use the edit orders plugin, which gives you a whole slew of opportunities to change order information including shipping information. it is very well supported on this forum, but if you only want to change shipping, i'm not sure if there is something else out there, as the edit orders plugin is a massive piece of code.
good luck! and welcome to the community.

Can you use one of the existing modules to get close to your actual shipping costs? For example, shipping by weight using Table shipping?
The problem with an unknown shipping charge is that it's going to have the effect of deterring sales.
