Merged modules upgrade question
Hello,
we are in the process of upgrading, doing a fresh install and reapplying all the modules. We already done a mockup site as we're at the same time upgrading look and feel.
Once the mockup was OK, I did second test site, applying all our modules and customsations to see how long it will be, and it's quite long.
To speed up things I was thinking of making my own file hierarchy, one folder "files to add" and another 'files to overwrite" and to merge all the modules we plan to add, plus to make a master sql file with all the sql files from the modules (that because my FTP client has a merge folder option).
Is that plan secure or will I face a lot of troubles doing so ?
Thanks for your advices.
Regards
Hubert
Re: Merged modules upgrade question
I can't see why that wouldn't work, but if you have only one site to convert, you'll spend more time doing it this way than the regular way. It would, however, be useful for anyone who has multiple sites to convert -- if the sites are identical.

I did the same on my website. Good luck !

@rstevenson
Thanks for your reply, I understand that theorically it would work but I was expecting some words if you experience the same method. Theory is not always true. My aim is not to do several sites but to reduce the old site downtime.
@solo_400
what do you mean ? Did you use the same method, the brand new site with re-apply of modules or did you use the merged folders method ?
If anybody else has some experience, did the same kind of thing, and wants to tell the result he or she's welcome.
