minimum IE version for admin?
php version 5.5.31
Just testing a v155a upgrade from v154 and I notice that the admin using ie8 on a PC will go straight to the "mobile view"
(The front end works fine with ie8)
Is there a minimum version of IE required for the admin?
Is there a way to tell the admin using ie8 to use the PC version of the admin?
Re: v155a minimum ie version for admin
What is your screen resolution?
Have you tried zooming out? (ctrl key then scroll "down" on mouse)

2560 x 1440 if I go full screen
All pages have a big "ORDERS" button (top left) on them
And NO menu navigation is displayed at all
IT works fine on higher versions of IE and FF and Chrome
Are you saying that it should work on IE8?
(As I couldn't find any info either way)
Re: v155a minimum ie version for admin
Chances are some functionality is not working on ie8, as it is already 5 years (2011) since the most recent ie8 version was released. IE8 was designed for Windows XP(also ancient), and like IE8 no longer supported by Microsoft.
So why are you still using such an old version of ie?

Yes good point ...
One customer uses xp (up to now) with IE8 (the highest IE that can be used on xp)
As the front end still works fine
I just wanted a definitive answer on IE8 for the admin
If its not supported that's fine I will push for a different browser
I just want to know in case it may be a problem that I have created
Re: v155a minimum ie version for admin
While I still have a PC that runs "older" operating systems, as far as I've been able to tell, I do not have XP still installed to test any further. None-the-less, operation in "mobile" mode on the admin does not remove any functionality generally speaking it only presents the information in a different arrangement and the menu doesn't "pop" down automatically upon hover. But...

Well on IE8 it doesn't load any part of the menu system so I can only navigate by directly typing in the page to goto.
Probably due to this Javascript error
Webpage error details
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; GTB7.5; InfoPath.2; .NET4.0C)
Message: Object doesn't support this property or method
Line: 3
Char: 3
Code: 0
URI: http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/admin/includes/menu.js
The relevant code is setting the viewport for the page
Google tells me that media queries don't work with IE8 and it doesn't like jquery either
So it appears it isn't supported
I don't need to attempt to debug any further
Moving to a different browser for this customer
Re: v155a minimum ie version for admin
the admin for v155 depends on javascript/jquery for full functionality. if the browser does not support it, there will be problems on the admin side for sure.
Re: v155a minimum ie version for admin
In the strictest sense, the following are the minimum requirements:
http://jquery.com/browser-support/
http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#support
... but the ZC dev team is NOT testing on IE8 or IE9, so it's possible that some problems may exist in those old browsers.
