How to configure google adsense sidebox?
Sorry, I have a complicated problem.
I have installed google adsense sidebox and fill in my adsense codes into the corresponding page in the "define page editor". However, when I click into google, no statistics was shown. Do I need to go through the google verification process?
I tried to use the "upload html" method for verification but it was failed due to something like:
"404 page returned 200 (successful code).....". Anyone know what it is?
Then I tried to use another method "code verification". It ask me to insert a code with "meta name" into the first page of my site inside <head> and before <body>. But then when I open index.html in my website root directory, there is no such code. Instead, there is some comments that the <head> code is load from "YourTemplate/common/html_header.php". Is this the file I should amend? Also, in this file, there is already a "meta name" tag already, should I replace it or keep two meta name concurrently?
Sorry for such a long question. Can any expert help?

Why would you use Google AdSense in the sideboxes of a shop? Isn't it the main idea of a shop to "get them in", make them browse and entice them to buy something?

I feel quite confident that my product is better and cheaper than the others, so I don't mind they comparing. I want to know how much profit I can earn from adsense.

Putting Google adsense on a webshop is perhaps the dumbest move ever.
... it's like renting a retail shop in the mall, and every time a customer comes in you say "Hey... why shop here?" and give them a leaflet advising them to go to the competitor's shop next door.
Reliable research shows that if a visitor leaves your site to visit a competitor, there's only a 2% to 5% chance they will return - no matter how good the product or how attractive the prices.
Google adsense on a webshop is no sense at all !

I am trying to find and install the Google Adsense sidebox mentioned above, but have not been able to track it down.
My client wants to put Google ads on his shop as he is not pursuing this part of his business at thw moment so he has decided to make the shop a showcase and generate a little income using Google.
All help appreciated.

If the site is not being used as a zencart site, disable index.php (re-name it to index.txt) and build a simple site around a flat html structure, using index.html. You won't need sideboxes. Juts strip in the adsense code(s) into flat html files.

My client would like not to undo SEO work done over last few years and slip down Google rankings, that is why he wants to run site as a Showcase.
