FREE Shipping only for US, not allowing to ship at all outside the US?
Hi.
I just noticed a serious problem with my cart.
I have enabled Always Free Shipping for a product. For the Free Shipping module, I have set a zone so that free shipping is only for the USA. Doing so, I assume that orders for this item outside the US would automatically fall to UPS shipping. However, if I try to place an order, the system does not allow me and instead tells me that "we do not ship to that area".
What could I be doing wrong? The UPS module does not have any particular zone set to it, so it should take in the shipping.
Re: FREE Shipping only for US, not allowing to ship at all outside the US?
Always Free Shipping is designed to be for "everyone" and not for a specific Zone ...
While the Zone setting is in the Free Shipping freeshipper shipping module, that is more for developers to be able to customize the code further ...
I am assuming your products all have weight to them.
Is the goal here to
Always give Free Shipping to the US?
Only offer UPS for International?
Or, do you want to offer:
both Free Shipping and UPS to the US
only UPS for international?

I have the same need, so similar advice would be helpful. In our case, we're considering offering free shipping in the US, but would like our usual FedEx and USPS methods to apply outside the US. Currently we're using ZC 1.3.7, and offer Google Checkout and PayPal checkouts besides native Zen Cart checkout. All three should offer the same shipping options/charges. I don't want to hijack this thread from the OP, but if the same advice applies, I'll be listening.

After further searching, I found your solution on this thread:
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39978
If I understand correctly, I should create a US zone and a non-US zone according to the logic described in the above thread, but using up-to-date zone values as found in the zones table (if they have changed since you wrote that solution). Then apply the US zone to the freeoptions module, and non-US zone to FedEx and USPS modules. Am I on the right track? I know there are details of settings to get straight, but I wanted to note in this thread that I had at least found the other thread with what appears to be the solution I need. And now, after looking at the fedex1 and fedex2 modules, they don't appear to have zone settings. Have I missed something?
Many thanks, Linda, for all your help over the years. I've found your good advice in many places throughout the forum.

I still seem to be answering my own questions. It looks like I need to change to the newer fedexground and fedexexpress modules in the FEDEX contribution, which says it is compatible with 1.3.7. We've used these modules in 1.3.8a in test mode, but I think I recall compatibility issues with Google Checkout, which would be a problem for us. But I may have remembered that wrong. Anyway, knowledge is increasing slowly.
