how do I get started on my web hosting space?
Just downloaded the latest Zen Cart version to my home computer running Vista, and bought the ebook, but it seemingly only tells me how to install on a Windows home computer. I have Linux web hosting with Godaddy, and no clue how to install the software on my linux hosted server. Can anyone give me a clue how to get started. I have a million things to sell, and this will be mostly an auction site. I need to get started ASAP! Please! Help!

Yes, find another host. Then, read install.txt in the Zencart zip file for basic instructions.

Yes, but the article refers to setting up a Linux local web server on a Windows PC.

So why find another host? Godaddy tech support person recommended Zen cart.

Because GoDaddy are what is known as a "Bucket Host". Low prices with large amounts of web space and bandwidth are only achieved by using cheap servers with low quality components, and packing each server full to the brim.

Here's an article in the Tutorial/FAQ section on how to install Zen Cart on a remote host which is also mentioned in the PDF update. Remember to read through the README.txt file included with your download before proceeding.
As for GoDaddy, heed the advice of all the previous posters and do a search on the forums to find out what others have to say about them first.
